The inaugural Innscor 5-a-side league kicked off last night with National Foods Pearlenta Power team taking on Colcom FC. A game that ebed and flowed and finally resulted in a 7-7 draw. Both teams walking off the pitch knowing they had been in a good battle.
National Foods Red Seal Rover team then took to the field against Irvines, a fairly close first half but without a full bench of substitutes the second half ran away in favour of the Red Seal Rover who walked off victorious 15-8 winners.
The last game of the night pitted the Capri Warriors against the Natpackers – Natpack in their new kit and very well supported were unfortunately no match for a very slick Capri (packed full of a blend of youth & experience). The game ended 16-3 – Capri definitely on first round glance the team to beat.
Unfortunately we had 3 no-shows which was very disappointing (IAL Head Office, Bakers Inn and TV Sales) – and we hope these teams can commit and play and enjoy what will be a great season.
A few beers were enjoyed after the games and thanks to the Natpack team for sponsoring a case of Zimbabwe’s finest pilsner.
Keep your eye on the goal scoring leaderboard there are a few who have racked up a couple of great goals already.
